CFD simulations help engineers predict the thermal behavior of electric machines (heat flow, temperature gradient and hot spots), which allows to do fine tuning of the thermal model to improve the cooling circuits design and efficiency of the machine.

This workshop will give a short introduction of why cooling is critical in electric motors, and which are the types of cooling methods used in the industry (big and small industrial machines), and which is the current trend in automotive.

For the second part of the workshop a demonstration with VOF setup simulations will be presented for a machine with direct oil cooling.
